Professor Dr. Marcella Woud has been awarded the Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Prize 2023 by the German Research Foundation. The award recognizes her groundbreaking research contributions on the role of cognitive biases in mental disorders, in particular anxiety disorders, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Woud's focus is on translating findings from basic clinical research into effective psychological interventions. Via her translational approach she aims to develop preventive interventions for mental disorders and to improve existing therapeutic approaches.

The Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Prize is considered one of the most important awards for scientific careers in Germany. It was awarded to three male and seven female researchers.
